Explanation
A user account holds a person's credentials, their profile information and their preferences, and the wiki stores each one as a Page carrying an XWiki.XWikiUsers object, rendered by the User Profile Application.
From the wiki Administration, administrators add and delete accounts, customize the registration Page people sign up with and set the password security policy that every later password must satisfy. An account created while email verification is on stays inactive until its owner confirms their address.
From a user's profile, administrators edit the profile information, change the password and disable or enable the account without deleting it. They also choose which information the User Profile tab displays for every user of the wiki.
What those users may then do is governed by Rights, and who the wiki takes them to be by Authentication.

Where are user accounts stored?
In the XWiki space, which is where an account has to be for its owner to be able to sign in. The Object editor of a profile shows every property the account carries.
Which of a user's settings can a user change themselves?
All of their profile information and their preferences, and their own password. Only the account's status and the fields the profile displays are administrator-only.
How many users does the administration list show at a time?
Fifteen. The "Results per page" control below the list raises that to 25, 50 or 100.
