Will an upgrade script be provided to allow the database to be seamlessly upgraded to the newer version?
DanMurphy, 2006/12/13 21:33
According to ReleaseNotes you don't need to worry... just make sure you remember to back it up (just in case)
brandone, 2006/12/14 09:53
I did see that, thanks. It doesn't say though whether it simply uses the old styles but just a newer core, or if the new styles and features are just added.
jeremi, 2006/12/14 23:44
wait, it will be soon available. we are late because we were all the day at JavaPolis.
The upgrade of your DB will be automatic. but don't forget the backup, we never know.
brandone, 2006/12/15 00:50
Thanks jeremi; Question if you dont mind: are the main plugins/environment (RSS/Velocity/HQL) updated to more recent versions, and are they backward compatible? Also, does the RSS plugin still use ROME 0.6 (or can it be easily updated)? Lastly, will these changes be implemented onto the XWiki.com server farm (we have several external wiki's for suppliers that I'd like to join)?
Once again guys, so far looking around the improved interface and updated docs I really want to say "nice job guys! looking forward to unwrapping this version!".
NNNAAA, 2006/12/15 12:12
Guys, whats up with the download link? Are the published dates just random?
About the backward compatibility. it is, but not until the version 0.9 I think. but from the source you can make them compatible easily for most of them I think. But if your are using this version it would be great to upgrade.
I didn't try to upgrade the rss plugin to the last version. I'll ask to someone to test it.
yes, they will soon, we will, I think, offer this choice. If you had change the default skin you will loose your modifications on it since it's a new one.
SebastienBrunot, 2006/12/18 14:22
Could someone add an RSS to this page so that we are notified of new versions ?
NNNAAA, 2006/12/18 16:30
You guys are a bunch of jokers - you give open-source development a bad name. Its now been 1 week and you keep giving execuses for your missed deadline. U should sort out your sh*t and then publishes dates. We've moved off xwiki completly and moved onto using one who release date are what they are.
Is there even an svn link, to download the source ourselves???
haydude, 2006/12/28 20:20
The .war version does not contain the classes directory inside WEB-INF
haydude, 2006/12/28 20:22
I have pulled the SVN sources in order to build a proper .war tree, but they are in a non standard tree.
Are there instruction to get it imported into an Eclipse project? Will you support direct Eclipse import in future?
DanMurphy, 2007/01/03 12:08
Hi, I have documented how I build XWiki in eclipse, using the ant script. See Building in Eclipse

Hi,I deployed xwiki1.0 in china.I changed the charset from iso-8859-1 to UTF-8 in several xml files. Then the menu on the top left corner is not reachable and a javascript error was promopted.

I have tried to install beta6 and rc2, but the "dodo" skin does not work at all. All the admin functions have gone and Admin/admin does not work as default login. I have also a running wiki (0.9..) that uses the old skin (dodo) that I like best, but this new layout makes impossible an upgrade. BTW I am afraid this new albatross skin sucks. Why did you put navigation on the right?

I downloaded the windows version advertised to be with tomcat, but it turned out to be with jetty. Anyone who can shed some light on this?
xsaissy, 2007/06/07 10:49
The standalone XWiki 1.1 installation for Windows is said to include a Tomcat container in the description above. Indeed, the container is Jetty. Thanks to correct with the exact information.

Gee, xwiki-web-standard-1.2-rc1.war is needed. I've downloaded xwiki-enterprise-web-1.2-rc-1.war and it is unusable since I have clean custom database and no script to create/insert "enterprise" content is provided.

I wanted to edit this site, but it seems I don't have the permission for it...In my opinion you could shorten all the download links. Nobody cares the exact filename in a download link, what matters is the product name and the version...
AleksSokolov, 2008/09/22 18:25
UTF-8 by default!!! I think that will be great to have "install with UTF-8 support" option in installer!!! Or separated UTF-8 distib.
Thanks for your great product, XWIKI TEAM!

I am not sure this is the proper place to ask help on this issue. I haven't found a better place though. I couldn't start the webapp from the war file b/c org.xwiki.component.phase.Composable class file is missing from core-xwiki-component-api jar file (in both 2.0 and 2.1 builds of 9/17/2009 ). Any idea?
Admin1d9, 2009/10/05 06:48
Looks like the refactoring from org.xwiki.component.phase into org.xwiki.component.internal package back in May caused this issue:

There is a little mistake in XWiki Enterprise link texts - the latest version should be "2.1-milestone-1.exe" and not "2.0-milestone-1.exe" as it is at the moment.
SusanWall, 2010/08/09 15:20
I downloaded xwiki enterprise stand alone. I double click the Start option and see the dos window pop up. When I point my browser to http://localhost:8080/, I get nothing. What do I need to do to get this running?
Lockie, 2010/08/11 02:54
@Susan Wall: If you're running it at a company then its possible that you might have installed it on your user network rather than on your C: drive. This was why my install didn't work originally. Check the folder and make sure its something like "C:Program FilesXWiki Enterprise", if its not then copy it to that location and try.

As Ludovic said above, the XWiki 1.0 beta files will be available this week-end. We are making some final changes to make this release great !

Sebastien: You could subscribe to the xwiki.org blog (or to the recently modified pages but in that case you'll get lots of notifications). See http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/News for the blog RSS feed. You could also register on Objectweb and monitor the xwiki_stable package (https://forge.objectweb.org/project/filemodule_monitor.php?filemodule_id=208&group_id=170&start=1). Let us know on the list if you have some other idea in mind. Thanks.

There is no database script. XWiki automatically creates its tables. See the MySQL installation guide for more details.
