Make sure you check the Release Notes (Amongst other things it contains instructions on how to migrate an existing XWiki installation).

All sources can also be browsed and downloaded from the Source Repository.

XWiki Enterprise

XWiki Enterprise is the default wiki product based on the XWiki Platform. See the XWiki Enterprise product page for more details on XWiki Enterprise.

If you're a first time user we recommend that you use the Standalone installation to get up to speed quickly. Once you're more familiar with XWiki you might want to set it up on your own database or in your own container, in which case you''ll then be able to download the WAR file and set it up and use the XAR file to load a default set of pages.

XWiki Platform

You should normally rather download XWiki Enterprise files. Platform files are libraries used by the other products (currently only XWiki Enterprise). However if you're building an application on top of the XWiki Platform you may want to download these files.

Will an upgrade script be provided to allow the database to be seamlessly upgraded to the newer version?

Dan Murphy | 13.12.2006 at 09:33 PM
According to Release Notes you don't need to worry… just make sure you remember to back it up (just in case)

brandone | 14.12.2006 at 09:53 AM
I did see that, thanks. It doesn't say though whether it simply uses the old styles but just a newer core, or if the new styles and features are just added.

jeremi | 14.12.2006 at 11:44 PM
wait, it will be soon available. we are late because we were all the day at JavaPolis.

The upgrade of your DB will be automatic. but don't forget the backup, we never know.

brandone | 15.12.2006 at 12:50 AM
Thanks jeremi; Question if you dont mind: are the main plugins/environment (RSS/Velocity/HQL) updated to more recent versions, and are they backward compatible? Also, does the RSS plugin still use ROME 0.6 (or can it be easily updated)? Lastly, will these changes be implemented onto the XWiki.com server farm (we have several external wiki's for suppliers that I'd like to join)?

Once again guys, so far looking around the improved interface and updated docs I really want to say "nice job guys! looking forward to unwrapping this version!".

NNNAAA | 15.12.2006 at 12:12 PM
Guys, whats up with the download link? Are the published dates just random?

Jean-Vincent Drean | 15.12.2006 at 01:59 PM
As Ludovic said above, the XWiki 1.0 beta files will be available this week-end. We are making some final changes to make this release great !

jeremi | 16.12.2006 at 09:56 AM
Hi brandone, I think the mailing list is better for discussing about this. (http://forge.objectweb.org/mail/?group_id=170)

About the backward compatibility. it is, but not until the version 0.9 I think. but from the source you can make them compatible easily for most of them I think. But if your are using this version it would be great to upgrade.

I didn't try to upgrade the rss plugin to the last version. I'll ask to someone to test it.

yes, they will soon, we will, I think, offer this choice. If you had change the default skin you will loose your modifications on it since it's a new one.

Sebastien Brunot | 18.12.2006 at 02:22 PM
Could someone add an RSS to this page so that we are notified of new versions ?

NNNAAA | 18.12.2006 at 04:30 PM
You guys are a bunch of jokers - you give open-source development a bad name. Its now been 1 week and you keep giving execuses for your missed deadline. U should sort out your sh*t and then publishes dates. We've moved off xwiki completly and moved onto using one who release date are what they are.

Vincent Massol | 18.12.2006 at 10:29 PM
Sebastien: You could subscribe to the xwiki.org blog (or to the recently modified pages but in that case you'll get lots of notifications). See http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/News for the blog RSS feed. You could also register on Objectweb and monitor the xwiki_stable package (https://forge.objectweb.org/project/filemodule_monitor.php?filemodule_id=208&group_id=170&start=1). Let us know on the list if you have some other idea in mind. Thanks.

Samer El Sahn | 19.12.2006 at 01:04 PM
Is there even an svn link, to download the source ourselves???

haydude | 28.12.2006 at 08:20 PM
The .war version does not contain the classes directory inside WEB-INF

haydude | 28.12.2006 at 08:22 PM
I have pulled the SVN sources in order to build a proper .war tree, but they are in a non standard tree.

Are there instruction to get it imported into an Eclipse project? Will you support direct Eclipse import in future?

Dan Murphy | 03.01.2007 at 12:08 PM
Hi, I have documented how I build XWiki in eclipse, using the ant script. See Building in Eclipse?

I have tried to install beta6 and rc2, but the "dodo" skin does not work at all. All the admin functions have gone and Admin/admin does not work as default login. I have also a running wiki (0.9..) that uses the old skin (dodo) that I like best, but this new layout makes impossible an upgrade. BTW I am afraid this new albatross skin sucks. Why did you put navigation on the right?

Abid Ali Teepo | 18.05.2007 at 01:55 PM
I downloaded the windows version advertised to be with tomcat, but it turned out to be with jetty. Anyone who can shed some light on this?

The standalone XWiki 1.1 installation for Windows is said to include a Tomcat container in the description above. Indeed, the container is Jetty. Thanks to correct with the exact information.

Gee, xwiki-web-standard-1.2-rc1.war is needed. I've downloaded xwiki-enterprise-web-1.2-rc-1.war and it is unusable since I have clean custom database and no script to create/insert "enterprise" content is provided.
