Explanation
A skin customizes the interface of an XWiki instance, the templates, stylesheets, scripts and images every page is built from, and the Flamingo Skin is the one XWiki ships with.
Available Skins lists the skins an instance can use, the three kinds of skin and how each one is named, and Skin Levels explains where a skin can be set and which setting wins when more than one applies.
A skin is chosen from the administration. Change the Skin of a Wiki covers every page of a wiki, Change the Skin of a Space a space and the spaces nested in it, and Change the Skin of a User a single reader. Preview a Skin displays one page with a skin without giving it to anybody.
A skin can also be changed rather than chosen: Customize a Skin replaces one of the files a skin is built from with content of your own.
FAQ
Is a skin the same thing as a Color Theme or an Icon Theme?
No, although all three are set in the administration's "Look & Feel" category. A skin is what builds the interface; a Color Theme and an Icon Theme work inside whichever skin is in use, the first setting its colors and fonts, the second the picture each icon name draws, Icons covers Icon Themes.
