The Import section of the Administration offers these options once a XAR package has been selected. The first three are a single choice made "when a Page already exists in the wiki"; "Import as backup package" is independent of that choice.

| "Add a new version to the existing page (if different)" | Adds a version to the existing Page, and only when the imported content differs from the current one. The Page keeps its history. |
| "Replace the page history with the history from the package" | Replaces the Page history with the one carried by the package. Without this option an imported Page starts again at version "1.1". |
| "Reset history to version 1.1" | Discards the existing history and saves the imported Page as its first revision, at version "1.1". |
| "Import as backup package" | Keeps the authors recorded in the package. Without it, the author of every imported Page is set to the user performing the import. |
FAQ
Which option keeps the history stored inside the package?
Only "Replace the page history with the history from the package": the other two keep the history the wiki already has, or reduce it to a single version.
