Administrators import content into a wiki from the Administration Application, which reads the XAR (XWiki ARchive) archives an export produces. Content of other kinds reaches a wiki through its own tool:

• Import XWiki Pages from a XAR archive, which is how Pages move from one XWiki instance to another.
• Imports for Extensions, for the XAR archives that package an extension.
• Import Office Documents into Wiki Pages, for text documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
• Imports from Other Software, for content coming from another wiki and for data formats such as CSV, XML or JSON.

An archive an export produced can also be customized by hand before it is imported, when it does not hold exactly the Pages wanted.
