Accessibility Statement
Explanation
This is the accessibility statement of XWiki, issued by the XWiki core Committers.
Measures to Support Accessibility
The XWiki core Committers take the following measures to ensure the accessibility of XWiki:
- Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
- Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods, described in the accessibility testing strategy.
- Include accessibility in the development practices.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, across three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.
XWiki is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA, which means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard.
Goals
The XWiki core Committers aim at XWiki being fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Feedback
Report any accessibility barrier you encounter on XWiki, including one that is not tracked yet:
- On the XWiki forum.
- On the issue tracker.
Technical Specifications
The accessibility of XWiki relies on the following technologies:
- HTML
- WAI-ARIA
- CSS
- JavaScript
A tool that does not support these technologies does not reach the level of accessibility XWiki is designed for.
Limitations and Alternatives
Despite these measures, XWiki has known accessibility limitations. They are listed on the issue tracker.
Assessment Approach
The XWiki core Committers assess the accessibility of XWiki in two ways:
- Self-evaluation, through automated accessibility testing whose latest results are published on the continuous integration server, and through consistent issue reporting and tracking, which builds a live view of the progress.
- External evaluation, through accessibility audits and testing sessions.
Those two evaluations and the barriers reported by readers all end up in the same issue tracker:
