Steps

Rebind any keyboard shortcut of your wiki by overriding the translation keys that define it, which needs the Admin right on the wiki.

1. Create a page, for example XWiki.KeyboardShortcuts, and paste the default keys into its content:

2. Change the value of each shortcut you want to rebind, for example core.shortcuts.view.comments=m to reach the "Comments" tab with M instead of C.
3. Click "Save".
4. Edit the page with the Object editor and add an XWiki.TranslationDocumentClass object:

   

5. Set the object's "Scope" to WIKI, so that the new keys apply to every user of the wiki:

   

6. Click "Save".
7. Press a key you rebound. It works straight away, with no cache to flush, and in this example M opens the "Comments" tab:

   

FAQ

Do I have to list every shortcut in the page?

No. Keep only the lines you want to change, and every key you leave out keeps its default value.

Why are my new shortcuts ignored?

The translations are registered only while the page's author and content author both hold the Admin right on the wiki, so a later save by an account without it silently stops them from applying.

Can I rebind the shortcuts for a single user?

Set the object's "Scope" to USER instead of WIKI, and the keys then apply only to the author of the page.
