Paste a JIRA URL to Insert a JIRA Macro
Steps
Pasting a JIRA URL into the WYSIWYG editor inserts a jira Macro displaying what that URL points at, instead of a plain link. What each kind of URL produces is listed in JIRA URL Conversion Rules.
- Open in your browser the JIRA issue you want to reference, or the JIRA search whose results you want to display.
- Copy the URL from the browser address bar.
- Edit the wiki page with the WYSIWYG editor and place the cursor where the issues should appear.
- Paste the URL with the usual paste shortcut.
- Save the page. The URL has been replaced by a jira Macro displaying the issues it pointed at.
FAQ
Nothing is converted when I paste. Why?
Either the pasted URL does not start with the URL of a JIRA instance configured in the wiki administration, or an administrator has not activated the plugin in the editor configuration.
How do I keep a plain link instead of a Macro?
Paste without formatting, with "Ctrl+Shift+V", which never converts.
Can I edit the inserted Macro afterwards?
Yes, it is an ordinary jira Macro: select it and change any of its parameters, for example to display more fields or a different style.
Does pasting an existing link work too?
Yes. Copying a link from another page and pasting it converts the same way as pasting a bare URL.
