Steps

Configure cross-wiki reach so an MCP endpoint on one wiki can search and act across multiple wikis in the farm.

You must be a main-wiki administrator to change reach settings.

  1. Navigate to the main wiki's administration.
  2. Open the "MCP Server" section to see the farm dashboard table.
  3. For each wiki, check or uncheck "Cross-wiki reach".
  4. Save with one click.

Default reach behavior

  • The main wiki reaches the whole farm by default.
  • Subwiki endpoints see only their own wiki by default.
  • You can grant reach to subwikis or revoke it from the main wiki, by using the farm dashboard.

Reach as a source-side grant

A reach-enabled endpoint can search and read a target wiki even if that target wiki's own MCP endpoint is disabled. The target wiki's tool toggles and space filter do not apply to cross-wiki requests. Only two things still constrain reach:

  • The acting user's rights on the target wiki.
  • The source endpoint's own space filter.

This is why disabling a wiki's endpoint does not hide that wiki from other endpoints. If a wiki must never be reachable, control access through user rights on that wiki and do not grant reach.

The farm dashboard

The main wiki's MCP admin section shows a table of every wiki with:

  • MCP enabled - checkbox, editable if you are an admin of that wiki (shown read-only otherwise).
  • Cross-wiki reach - checkbox, editable only by main-wiki (farm) administrators.
  • Wiki - name of the wiki
  • Configure - link to that wiki's own MCP admin section.

FAQ

Can a subwiki administrator grant their own endpoint reach?

No. The reach setting is stored on the main wiki's configuration document, which is only editable by main-wiki administrators.
