Delete Spam Pages and Users
Steps
The application home page, "Delete Spam User and Pages", finds every page containing a spam term, the accounts that last modified them, everything else those accounts touched and the events they produced, then removes all of it in one pass, leaving protected users alone. Only the revisions made by the accounts found are deleted, so a page that existed before the spam keeps its earlier content.
- Open the AntiSpam application home page.
- Type the spam term in the "Search..." field, or the reference of an account in the "User..." field.
- Click "Search" to list the matching pages, their authors, the other pages of those authors and their events.
- Click "Check for Spam", and add a pattern in Configure Spam Keywords for any page reported in red.
- Click "Delete".
- Click "Confirm Delete".
- Every entry is annotated with what was done to it: the pages report "Cleaned!" and the accounts report "Deleted!".
FAQ
Is the whole page deleted?
Only the revisions made by the accounts that were found. A page whose history holds nothing else is deleted entirely.
Why is an author listed but not removed?
Because it is a protected user, which Spam Cleaning never deletes.
Does cleaning flood the notifications?
No. The deletions run inside fold events, so a mass cleaning is not recorded in the event stream.
How many pages does one search cover?
At most 500 matching pages, and at most 500 further pages per author. Run the search again after cleaning if there were more.
