What is the relationship between XWiki SAS and the XWiki open source project?
Ludovic Dubost is the initial creator of the XWiki open source project. He later (in 2004) created the XWiki SAS company. He was later joined by Vincent Massol and several others.
From the onset it was decided that there would be complete independance between the company and the open source project and that the open source project would be a real community-based open source development, controlled by the community. The goal is to have a thriving community which decides its own future and make it a place where it's nice to contribute to.
The development rules that were defined are very close to those of the Apache Software Foundation.
